The company is part of the group, a leading investment and wealth management business in South Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Australia and Europe.

They now seek an equities middle office accountant to join their team.

JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • Market making:
    • You will be required to run the daily P&L and position reporting on all ETF market making businesses. This process will include:
      • You will be responsible for updating the database of daily trades, creations, redemptions and dividends;
      • You will be required to monitor and report on daily trades;
      • You will be required to reconcile positions to BDA;
      • You will be required to reconcile dividends with BDA;
      • You will be required to review of daily basket files received from the ETF providers for changes to the basket constituents and distributable amounts;
    • You will be required to monitor the appropriateness of the hedging and advise traders on adjustments that are required from time to time:
      • You will be required to liaise with ETF providers with respect to baskets and independently monitor and implement basket changes;
      • You will be required to reconcile P&L’s to general ledger system;
      • You will be required to assist the back office staff with reporting requirements;
      • You will be required to assist with the expense allocation process of trade and JSE related costs;
  • Collateralised lending:
    • You will be responsible for  the capital markets team’s equity backed finance:
      • You will be required to capture loans onto Murex;
      • You will be responsible for daily reporting of loan and collateral values;
      • You will be required to issue statements to clients;
      • You will be required to liaise with clients for loan or collateral related matters;
      • You will be required to conduct collateral calls when required;
      • You will be required to report P&L’s on loans;
      • You will be required to liaise with money market on funding related matters;
  • You will be responsible for company equity backed finance:
      • You will be responsible for daily reporting of loan movements;
      • You will be responsible for monthly funding and margin calculations including branch breakdowns for Portfolio Managers’ commissions calculations;
      • You will be required to assist company finance with queries on the loan book
  • General:
    • You will be required to assist with inputs for board reports or any other committee reports as required;
    • You will be required to innovate to automate and streamline processes with the aid of macros and power queries, etc., across all business areas of involvement.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • You have a bachelor degree in finance, banking, accounting as a minimum post graduate welcome·
  • You have a minimum of 3 – 5 years working within the South African financial markets in a similar role;
  • You have current, relevant experience in the investment banking industry;
  • You have a working knowledge of ETFs and market making;
  • You have working knowledge of interest rates and related financial calculations;
  • You need minimal training – you are able to hit the road running and some exposure to the wealth management / stockbroking environment is vital in order to be able to do this;
  • You have detailed knowledge of risk management and accounting for financial instruments.;
  • You have the advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, power queries, etc.);
  • You have a high level of drive and commercial acumen, coupled with a readiness to make quick decisions and take responsibility while working in a close team.
