Our client is a proprietary investment business and an alternatives investment manager. Through its capital market activities, the company delivers above-average, risk-adjusted returns for a predetermined level of risk to shareholders.

They now seek an operations support specialist to join the debt origination team. You will report to the head of operations.

This role is suitable for appropriately qualified affirmative action candidates.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be have the opportunity to develop into a fully-fledged investment administrative professional in an investment banking type business;
  • You will be required, over and above the achievement of daily work assignments and targets, to be part of a greater team which supports all the business’ investment divisions, internal company clients and external clients;
  • You will be required to support their biggest client, the group and ensure that client centricity is always upheld throughout all that you perform; ·
  • You will be required to complete further studies where necessary to ensure you are able to support the clients to the best of their ability;
  • You will be responsible for day-to-day administration function of non-conventional assets and other structured products in both the local and international markets;
  • day-to-day administration function of the local and international unlisted instruments and OTC investments;
  • You will be responsible for the preparation of accurate, complete and timeous information;
  • You will be responsible for the preparation and/or review of external and internal reports (month end and quarterly reporting; regulatory reports; audit certificates, etc.);
  • You will be required to prepare and /or review and administer contractual arrangements;
  • You will be required to perform instrument tagging and classification (CIC tagging and classification according to sector trees for reporting);
  • You will be responsible for assisting with queries related to fair value hierarchy;
  • You will be required to manage and facilitate internal  coupon and loan repayments;
  • You will be required to produce or, review shareholder transactions and reporting,
  • You will be required to prepare cost allocation split for 3rd party expenses across the business;
  • You will be required to disseminate cost allocation to various teams within business;
  • You will be required to manage and respond to internal and external queries related to cost allocations and cost recovery;
  • You will be required to perform an oversight role with the review of the monthly accounting submissions (RSA actuarial return report) and the monthly tax report (tax executive summary);
  • You will be required to manage all relevant accounting and tax queries;
  • You will be required to manage the integrity of the unitised structures within the group and play a pivotal role as the gatekeeper for any new requests or, changes to the structures;
  • You will be required to facilitate all inward coming changes in service requests;
  • You will be required to assist maintaining the relationship with clients and to resolve issues, difficulties or problems as and when they arise;
  • You will be required to assist managing the relationship with both internal and external clients and to act as the first party of recourse when issues, difficulties or problems arise;
  • You will be required to liaise with other departments required to perform functions or address queries e.g. performance research, accounting and management accounting;
  • You will be responsible for meeting strict reporting and deliverable deadlines;
  • You will be responsible for ad hoc administrative duties;

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • You have a commerce degree  and good results with the commitment to enhance technical investment administrative and market skills through further formal studies in appropriate courses, where deemed necessary;
  • You have a minimum of 4 – 8 years relevant working experience within operational administrative support environments in the investment space and ideally in investment banking;
  • You have strong computer literacy (Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Completed articles would be good experience to add to your undergraduate;
  • You have a broad understanding of alternative assets, i.e. private equity, structured finance deals and other OTC instruments;
  • You have a working understanding of structured finance deals and the operational processes ·
  • You have a broad understanding of financial markets/instruments/investments and participants;
  • You are able to collaborate effectively with others to achieve personal and team results;
  • You have the capacity to learn quickly and deal with evolving job requirements;
  • You are agile and adapt to change.
