Our client who has been established in South Africa and investing on behalf of clients and has grown to become one of Africa’s largest investment management companies. This company is an investment management firm focussed on building long-term wealth for their clients.

The company’s primary goal is to achieve long term wealth creation for its clients.

They now seek a manager, institutional team (ex-SA entities) to join their team.  Preference to suitably qualified Affirmative Action candidates.

JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • Ensure the financial function for all the Africa ex-SA entities.
    • You will be responsible for providing meaningful and value-adding management reporting;
    • You will be responsible for developing the skills of the institutional team members;
    • You will be responsible for building and maintaining team resource capacity and assist with team succession planning and managing a strong, smart team.
  • Reporting and analysis:
    • You will be responsible for assisting in the presentation of the monthly management and annual audited accounts for the Africa ex-SA entities (currently in Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland, Kenya and Nigeria);
      • You will required to review, and assist in driving, the work performed by the rest of the team;
      • You will be required to review of daily cash reps (including follow up on receivables);
      • You will be required to review of weekly payments to suppliers;
      • You will be responsible for monthly payroll for the Africa ex-SA entities;
      • You will be responsible for tax submissions for the Africa ex-SA entities;
    • You will be required to review of the monthly packs and AFS for each of these entities;
    • You will be required to review and / or preparation of the various monthly management reports analysing the asset, income and expenses in each of the entities;
    • You will be responsible for the preparation and audit approval & sign-off of AFS for each of the entities;
    • You will be responsible for the preparation of reports for the directors meetings of each of the entities;
    • You will be responsible for the preparation, review, submission and monitoring of regulatory returns;
  • Budgeting and forecasting:
    • You will be required to be involved in the annual budget setting exercise for the Africa ex-SA entities. This will be followed during the year by monitoring and reporting on monthly performance against this budget ;
  • Addressing issues:
    • You will responsible for research, consultation and liaison with appropriate and relevant parties to understand and address issues affecting the ex-SA entities, either for existing or new matters / requirements by the business;
    • You will be responsible for responding to information requests and queries raised, either internally (Africa ex-SA unit) and externally (regulators and tax authorities in the regional countries);
    • You will be required to assist the head of group finance and the financial manager with general matters where required; You will be required to, where necessary, to “get your hands dirty” in assisting the finance team to generate its deliverables;
  • Africa ex-SA team:
    • You will be required to provide appropriate leadership to the ex-SA team, including support and guidance to the other team members.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • You are a CA(SA) with clients at audit in financial services;
  • You have a minimum of 3 – 5 years post-articles experience in FS;
  • You are a focused and driven individual;
  • You have leadership experience in holding team accountable for deliverables.  You are a positive influence in the business in terms of your work ethic and your work output.
