Our client is a Cape Town based, long-only asset manager. They are managing HNW private client money. This is a new role.

They now seek a Client Service Manager to join their team. This role would suit a proactive and hungry individual looking to grow within a team driven environment with the business. In turn they would build a broad range and depth of experience in the asset management industry.

The reports to the Finance Director and COO.

JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be required to work in the private client management division of a growing specialist asset management business;
  • You will be required to have experience in the asset management industry and be able to competently meet with high net worth individuals and their advisers to explain portfolio performance as well as manage all administrative requirements with the help of an assistant;
  • Relationship management:
    • You will be required to maintain and further develop relationship with advisers, their clients and direct clients in conjunction with the PM;
    • You will be responsible for investment feedback and preparation of presentations for private clients and sophisticated investors;
    • You will be required to manage an administration assistant to support delivery;
    • You will be required to must understand buy-list stock synopses. You will be required to be up to speed on the market and be able to speak to advisers and clients competently. You will be required to take the lead on client liaisons and use PMs for market updates only;
    • You will be required to maintain and develop relationships with service providers, mainly brokers;
    • You will be responsible for service level agreements, cost management;
    • You will be responsible for quality control and ongoing review;
  • Private client system management and development:
    • You will be required to work with the COO to integrate data feeds, manage data feed quality continually – corporate actions etc.;
    • You will be required to develop work flow and task management functions in iress to start proactively managing client interactions;
    • You will be required to work in conjunction with service providers to get best pricing and continually develop best practice functionality;
  • Manage and work in partnership with the current CRM to manage the private client team (2 CRM and 2 admin resources):
    • You will be required to ensure admin such as client take-on, client queries etc. are done efficiently and effectively;
    • You will be required to manage staff members according to clear JDs and KPIs;
    • You will be required to work with COO on the end-to-end client service plan including streamlining: take-on, exit, query management, client reporting, client feedback and meeting management. This needs to be delivered through leveraging iress to automate processes;
    • You will be required to develop and implement strategy for private client growth through leveraging existing relationships and working on new relationships with the BDM;
  • Fee run management:
    • You will be responsible for private client fee calculation and invoicing; You will be required to leverage iress to automate this process;
    • You will be required to prepare adviser private client rebates;
    • You will be required to prepare adviser unit trust rebates;
  • Reporting:
    • You will be responsible for monthly and quarterly AUM reporting, asset summary reports;
    • You will be required to prepare adviser custom reports, where required;
    • You will be required to prepare and review onshore and offshore performance reporting;
  • New business development:
    • You will be required to contribute quarterly article for private client business;
    • You will be required to create and update solution fact sheets;
    • You will be required to assist the BDM with private client proposals and recommendations;
    • You will be required to assist with marketing material as appropriate.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • You have current, relevant asset management with private client (ideal) experience and a B.Com/CFP;
  • You are able to demonstrate a current, working knowledge of the market;
  • You are able to demonstrate a current, working knowledge of the market;
  • You have strong knowledge of the financial regulatory environment;
  • You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, Powerpoint.
  • You have portfolio management systems knowledge;
  • You have Iress knowledge – this would be beneficial;
  • You are able to use Bloomberg and Morningstar – this would be beneficial.
