Our client is a transaction switch, linking the product providers and collective investment scheme managers (ManCos). The company provides a mechanism for the transaction flow between their trading environments. The platform provides for all transaction types, price information, income distributions and distribution of fund certificates and underlying holdings.

They now seek an application manager to join their team.

JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be required to manage the day to day and ongoing functioning of the company’s application;
  • You will be required to identify areas and or opportunities for enhancement;
  • You will be required to propose and manage all new developments (prioritise, budget, test, train and implement);
  • You will be required to assist client services with any client queries and work closely with the infrastructure manager around the application infrastructure;
  • New developments:
    • You will be required to manage “wish list” for system changes as requests come in and upload it onto the network;
    • You will be required to prioritize enhancements and bugs in terms of importance and cost and obtain authorization;
    • You will be required to provide system solutions which are cost effective and user friendly;
    • You will be required to provide detailed specifications to developers;
    • You will be responsible for all industry changes obtain approval from clients and ASISA;
    • You will be required to keep within the allocated budget for the year;
    • You will be required to ensure take to production procedure is followed;
    • You will be required to ensure new version goes live on specified date;
    • You will be required to provide release documentation for clients;
    • You will be required to liaise with the development partner throughout build, test and implementation;
  • Testing of new developments and or infrastructure changes:
    • You will be required to test all functionality;
    • You will be required to create and maintain regression test packs;
    • You will be required to make all reasonable efforts to ensure the system does not break under load;
    • You will be required to check system response time;
    • You will be required to ensure clients test the system for a month prior to take to production;
    • You will be required to ensure all bugs / errors are fixed within the time frame;
    • You will be required to ensure functional spec is updated accordingly;
    • You will be required to follow the system testing procedure;
    • You will be required to assist infrastructure manager with testing application on new or changes to application infrastructure environment;
  • Training delivery:
    • You will be required to ensure training manual is in place and up-to-date;
    • You will be required to deliver training to team;
    • You will be required to assist client services in answering client queries;
    • You will be required to ensure the client services understand the system changes in new releases;
    • You will be required to provide answers to FAQ’s to client services;
  • Infrastructure support:
    • You will be required to work closely with infrastructure manager in optimizing application environment;
  • General:
    • You will be required to assist with policy development;
    • You will be required to complete monthly ops report;
    • You will be required to ensure compliance and updating of procedural documentation for ISAE3402 audits;
    • You will be required to work closely with managing director in formulating application strategy.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • You have a minimum of 5 years current, relevant retail investment operations, business application support or business analysis experience in the financial services industry – this is essential;
  • You have current, relevant retail investment industry experience;
  • You have strong computer literacy skills;
  • B.Com/B.Bus Sc/B.Sc
