Our client is seeking an HR Consultant join their team. You will be joining a new company that will be responsible for the administration for two asset management businesses.
You will report to the MD.

This role is for suitably qualified Affirmative Action candidates only.

JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be required to provide a comprehensive, proactive and integrated HR advisory and generalist service. This stand-alone role reports into the MD. You will be responsible for the setup of processes and procedures for this new business and later maintenance and enhancements as and when needed from an HR perspective. You will also need to be willing to help in other areas as is typical in a small business, namely;
  • Staff recruitment:
    • You will be required to compile job specs for all roles with team leads;
    • You will be required to manage and maintain candidate database;
    • You will be required to implement recruitment process and compilation of policy in line with most recent and relevant employment legislation;
    • You will be required to manage relationships with recruitment service providers;
    • You will be required to ensure appropriate advertising process;
    • You will be required to screen, interview and select in conjunction with line managers;
    • You will be required to ensure all background ‘checks’ are done;
    • You will be required to prepare offers for candidates;
    • You will be required to manage onboarding process;
    • You will be required to maintain accurate documentation and information on recruitment and selection processes.
  • HR consulting :
    • You will be required to build and maintain constructive relationships with line managers, staff and other internal and external stakeholders;
    • You will be required to advise and coach staff and line managers on the interpretation, application and implementation of HR policies, procedures, processes and systems;
    • You will be required to communicate / refer / escalate HR-related issues as appropriate;
    • You will be required to participate in governance structures / committees and provide input and advice on issues related to HR.
  • Remuneration and payroll:
    • You will be required to advise line management on employee remuneration;
    • You will be required to prepare staff documents for payroll;
    • You will be required to make any payroll changes on a monthly basis;
    • You will be required to oversee processing of payroll and ensure deadlines and compliance requirements are met.
  • Employee relations:
    • You will be required to oversee, manage and implement disciplinary and grievance policy, process and procedure, complying at all times with IR legislation;
    • You will be required to coordinate and provide advice on transfer, take-on and set-up with regards to staff and communication strategy;
    • You will be required to monitor relationships between staff and management and provide feedback to MD on employee relations climate;
    • You will be required to give input on appropriate interventions to improve employee relations.
  • Training and development:
    • You will be required to facilitate needs analysis;
    • You will be required to communicate and promote training and development opportunities;
    • You will be required to compile and facilitate induction programme;
    • You will be required to facilitate implementation of training interventions;
    • You will be required to Interview, select and manage training vendors.
  • Performance management:
    • You will be required to support the development and maintenance of a performance management culture;
    • You will be required to support line managers in dealing with poor performance complying with IR legislation at all times;
    • You will be required to ensure performance contracts and reviews and in place and managed timeously and effectively between staff and line managers;
    • You will be required to management information and reporting;
    • You will be required to provide customized management information reports;
    • You will be required to analyse and interpret HR Data and provide input into/compile HR reports (EE,WSP).
  • Other:
    • You will be required to assist with development and implementation of HR projects;
    • You will be required to support office management.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • You have a B.Com (HR);
  • You have current, relevant financial services experience; this would be a distinct advantage;
  • You have a minimum 5 years current, relevant HR experience with a minimum of 2 years in a full generalist role;
  • You have current, relevant experience in a set up or merger context; this would be a distinct advantage;
  • You have strong knowledge of current IR and Employee Legislation;
  • You have strong systems knowledge and you are proficient in MSOffice with advanced Excel;
  • You have stong HR systems knowledge.
