Our client who is established to develop and build non-legal businesses and build new channels to market various products- I think rather say a division of a global services company then add the rest . They operate primarily in the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE), tax and structured finance sector.

They now seek a Senior Associate; Structured Finance to join their team.

JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be required to assist the directors, certain employees of the company in relation to specific products, administrative and project management support;
  • You will be responsible for attending meetings with the directors, employees, preparing reports, client management, transaction management, interacting with clients and service providers;
  • You will be required to prepare written reports and presentations, preparing proposals, handling information requests, being responsible for making decisions and taking action where appropriate;
  • You will be responsible for the client relationship management across the company’s client base;
  • You will be responsible for the management of the implementation within the company’s products, ongoing transaction management of the product in terms of the transaction processes and reporting;
  • You will be responsible for assisting with the product development, including undertaking research, analysis of the products and preparing briefing papers for the company;
  • You will be responsible for preparing the new product approval (NPA) papers for products that the senior associate is allocated to;
  • You will be responsible for preparing the company risk reports and related presentations within the company risk committees (risk);
  • You will be responsible for preparing the client marketing proposals on an ad-hoc basis;
  • You will be responsible for the in-depth review, analysis of legal documentation in developing and implementing the company’s products;
  • You will be responsible for assisting with the developing of the financial models recognising the limited expertise in this area currently;
  • You will be responsible for managing the new product implementation; liaison with clients, legal and other partners in order to manage the implementation of the new products;
  • You will be responsible for managing the company’s existing products including related operational, reporting and trade support;
  • You will be required to attend various company team, strategy and product development meetings;
  • You will be responsible for the business development as required and assisting with managing the company client relationship management (CRM) tools and process;
  • You will be responsible for assisting with the client relationship management team as required across the company’s client base and along with the relevant director of principal;
  • You will be required to support the team operations;
  • You will be required to assist with the development of business plans;
  • You will be responsible for the project management and implementation of a wide range of initiatives;
  • You will be responsible for the due diligence on new products, business models and initiatives;
  • Project management and project administration:
    • You will be responsible for the preparation of the product, project plans, management of all aspects of the implementation of the various work streams and transactions agreed upon;
    • You will be responsible for the preparation of reports, guidance to the various risk, related committees and interaction with lawyers;
  • Information preparation:
    • You will be required to be involved in preparing the formatting information, NDA’s, client engagement letters, pitch documents for internal and external distribution. This may include writing letters, memos, compiling data for the reports, developing business cases, creating electronic presentations, writing reports, editing, proofreading and other information preparation duties;
    • You will be responsible for the presentation of projects, progress reports as well as strategic business proposals and initiatives;
  • Records management:
    • You will be required to maintain accurate current transactions and project records pertaining to risk, product and transaction management;
    • You will be responsible for setting up, managing both electronic and paper filing systems, as well as taking steps to maintain that the company is in compliance with all applicable record-keeping requirements as it pertains to the project for which the successful associate candidate will be responsible;
  • Problem solving:
    • You will be required to evaluate, suggest appropriate actions to solve the wide range of identified problems as part of the products, transactions and various proposals;
    • You will be required to take appropriate action, accept responsibility, drive the successful execution of the proposed identified products and transactions;
  • Data analysis:
    • You will be required to perform research work and summarise findings;
    • You will be required to provide support to the directors or employees by conducting, facilitating data analysis using a combination of the computer and critical thinking skills. This could include carefully analysis of financial data to create reports relating to products and transactions;
  • Discretion:
    • You will be responsible for the access to confidential information about products, clients, company trade secrets and other confidential information, which must be protected. As a result, the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion is a non-negotiable requirement for the role.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • You have a CA(SA)/B.Bus Sc/LLB+MB (finance);
  • You have a minimum of 5 years current, relevant banking or structuring related experience; this is essential;
  • You have current, relevant experience in operational business support, having engaged across various functional areas within an organisation;
  • You have proven interpersonal skills with experience managing the implementation of complex products in a high-profile environment with tact and diplomacy;
  • You have current, relevant experience managing multiple projects with stringent deadlines;
  • You have strong business acumen and a good understanding of the company business context, strategic partnerships in driving and achieving company business results;
  • You are tech-savvy or have current, relevant experience in working for international, commercially-focused and professional services environment;
  • You have current, relevant experience in working across teams with a variety of projects and constituencies;
  • You have strong knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
