This global, top performing asset manager, who consistently outperforms ‘all’ benchmarks is headquartered in Cape Town and is one of Southern Africa’s most successful third-party fund management companies. They are a pure fund management business that provides both individual and institutional investors with access to markets across a number of geographies. Located in all the major regions in South Africa they also have offices in Botswana, Swaziland, Ireland, Namibia and the United Kingdom.

They now seek a Client Associate to join their team. You will play a significant support role within the global institutional business team. This is a high performance team that is the client face (both on a client acquisition, client service and retention basis) for the institutional clients of the company in both the South Africa and International Markets.

JOB DESCRIPTION WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • You will be required to a full in-house support and back-up for the client facing Fund Managers (FM) – these are business development institutional people and not money managers;
    • You will be responsible for taking key responsibility for assigned clients alongside the FM. You have the ability to report on all the current matters pertaining to a particular assigned client and build strong client relationships so that clients feel comfortable dealing directly with the incumbent when the FM is not available;
    • You will be required to work closely with the FM and the dedicated Client Relationship Manager (CRM) to ensure all queries and issues around the client and products are dealt with efficiently and professionally;
    • You will be required to liaise with staff at various levels of the organization and from other departments to ensure high levels of client service and administration;
    • You will be required to assist the FM’s with collation and preparation of presentations, in particular when FM’s are out of the office, which is a regular occurrence. This requires a detailed understanding of the company’s products, the clients mandate, the company’s current investment views and portfolio positioning and general market views;
  • You will be responsible for the input and maintenance of all client-related databases (both local and international databases), databases are the most critical interface:
    • You will be responsible for both local and international. These databases are the most critical interface that the company has to clients, consultants globally (of equal importance to performance) and hence need to be accurate and updated regularly;
    • You will be responsible for at least one if not more of these critical databases and will need to take pride in its contents;
  • You will be responsible for client surveys, due diligence questionnaires, tenders, maintenance of database of questions:
    • You will be required to take responsibility for the initial completion of these important documents, to be reviewed by FM’s. The process often includes sourcing information from various areas of the business, dealing with senior managers for input and ensuring all reviews are completed timeously;
    • You will be required to take ownership for the submission and delivery accurately and within stringent time constraints;
    • You will be required to ensure that the database of answers to questions is updated and is maintained in a polished form at all times;
    • You will be required to collate and take responsibility for maintaining accuracy and quality of all other client-related collateral, strategy fact sheets, client queries, salesforce updates, meeting minutes, process documents and manuals etc.;
  • You will be assist with the preparation of legal documents relating to clients and ensure accurately captured, stored, maintained and scanned;
  • You will be required to deal with all other business and product related queries within the team;
  • You will be required to ensure the CRM system (salesforce) is up to date and accurate for funds that the incumbent is allocated as the CA ( Client Associate )
  • You will be required to take responsibility for ad-hoc projects as assigned with pride and diligence;
  • You will be required to ensure all process documents are kept up to date and enhanced where possible;
  • You will be required to assist with general tasks in the area as and when required;

CORE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • You have a B Bus Sc, (numerical subjects);
  • You have minimum 5 years current, relevant working experience in asset management;
  • You have strong database management experience and advanced Excel skills;
  • You have current, relevant analytical and quantitative experience, this would be a distinct advantage.
